His stories revolve mostly around old cars, focusing on experiences and emotions, breaking away from most traditional automotive publications. His articles combine documentary, portrait, street, lifestyle, and storytelling elements.
Álvaro
Pinzón
Automotive documentary photographer from Latin America.
with over twelve years of experience. Throughout his career, he has showcased the most extraordinary stories of collectors, garages, historic cars, and rallies in both Latin America and Europe.
From traversing the perilous Death Road in Bolivia aboard a TVR Chimaera with English license plates to journeying in a Renault 5 Turbo Rallye spec car on the roads of the end of the world, Álvaro's stories cover a wide range of automotive adventures.
Have you ever experienced a sensation that cars possess human or animalistic countenances on their front designs, evoking emotions such as joy, ennui, or aggression?
Ever since he was a child, Álvaro's fascination with automotive design, inspired by the principles of anthropomorphism and bionics, has been a driving force in his life. He pursued this passion by studying product design in 2009. A year later, he discovered a new passion: photography. Since then, he has devoted himself to documenting the stories behind the most remarkable and unconventional cars.
"The automobile is a human creation that embodies the essence of both its designer and end user"
The ideas and values that are conveyed through the designer's strokes are transformed over time through the vehicle's use by its owners, the countless journeys taken, the modifications made, and the natural wear and tear of time.
“What fascinates me about vintage cars is their visual energy, an energy that no other object created by humanity has managed to achieve.”
Under these concepts, Álvaro Pinzón immersed himself in automotive photography with a documentary viewpoint for the last 12 years.
This approach has led him to work with international companies and publications, from Swiss watch companies such as TAG Heuer or Chopard. To the most recognized automotive online magazines such as Petrolicious, Type7 (the IG lifestyle magazine by Porsche). And print publications such as England's Octane Magazine and mentions in multiple international news outlets like The BBC News.
